Configure DNS on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander

Ubuntu is very annoying when changing a simple thing like /etc/resolv.conf isn’t permitted.

Here is how to configure DNS (assuming you disabled network-manager via gui interface):

Edit network configuration file:

sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet manual
address 192.168.1.2
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns-domain siddou.com
dns-search siddou.com
dns-nameservers 192.168.1.50

Restart network:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
